On June 1, 2017, a front-seat passenger was traveling on HWY 70 a few miles northeast from Copper Mountain, CO, when they witnessed an unidentified flying object (UFO). The eyewitness and four other passengers exited the vehicle near Black Lake to take photos of the snow and semi-frozen lake. After returning to the highway and reviewing the photos, the eyewitness discovered that they had captured a UFO in one of their pictures.
According to the eyewitness, the object in the photo cannot be attributed to a smashed bug on the windshield, a light from inside or outside the vehicle, an airplane, or any other reasonable object. The photo shows that all other items in the picture, such as trees, snow, and the front hood of the vehicle, are clean, crisp, and in good resolution. The UFO, on the other hand, has a slightly blurred image, indicating that it was a moving object.
At the time the photo was taken, the sun was to the east, and the UFO has a clear reflection of the sunlight on its top and a shadow below it. The photo was taken as the UFO was passing over the treetops and across Black Lake, but none of the other passengers noticed the object at the time it was captured. The eyewitness was only looking at their phone screen and the lake when they snapped the photo, and the driver and other passengers were focused on their phones.
The sighting was reported to the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) as Case 84246, and the photo was submitted as evidence. The organization investigates and researches sightings of UFOs and works to provide explanations or identify potential hoaxes. However, in this case, the photo provides compelling evidence of a UFO sighting that cannot be explained by any known object.
The eyewitness’s experience is one of many reported sightings of UFOs across the world. While many sightings can be explained by natural phenomena or misidentifications, some remain unexplained and spark curiosity about what else might be out there in the vastness of space.
